Why the SCV Independent?

Welcome to the web edition of The Santa Clarita Valley Independent. The SCV Independent came about as the idea of three local newspaper people. Obviously the SCV Independent is locally owned and operated. We chose the name “Independent” for a reason. We are “independent.” There is no corporate out-of-state owner here. We strongly believe in a free press. We will not kowtow to special interests, but will work to inform and serve this community in our own “independent” way. We who put out this website, own this website, and we live, shop and work here. We have a stake in this community and it will show. In addition to our website, look for our free print edition around the SCV every month. Support our advertisers. But above all, come join us. We promise to not let you down.
